Week 15 Fantasy Busts Darren Waller Jared Goff Evan Engram among risky starts in bad matchups
Blog Article
At this point in the fantasy football season, it's easy to get bogged down by numbers. From matchup data to advanced stats to basic splits, it can be difficult to know what's best to look at when making start 'em, sit 'em decisions. Our Week 15 fantasy bust list, which includes Darren Waller, Jared Goff, and Evan Engram, takes it all into account and can help you avoid potential landmines that will knock you out of the fantasy playoffs.Even stars can struggle (thanks for nothing, Travis Etienne), but you won't find those types of players among our bust picks unle s we legitimately advise benching them. We target players on the start-or-sit bubble -- not "must-starts," and not players owned in just a small handful of leagues. You might not have enough depth to bench the players below, or you might just completely disagree with our picks. Either way, it's your team, so make the decisions that work best for you.We batted over .500 last week, hitting on subpar fantasy showings from James Cook, Leonard Fournette, Derek Carr, Darius Slayton, D.J. Moore, Michael Gallup, Noah Fant, Minnesota's D/ST, Tampa Bay's D/ST, and Cleveland's D/ST. Andres Munoz Jersey We'll attempt to hit on our picks at an even higher clip with fantasy seasons on the line.WEEK 15 FANTASY PICKS: | Let's get into our Week 15 bust picks.Samaje Perine, Bengals @ Buccaneers(Sloan Piva). Perine helped countle s fantasy teams get into the playoffs with his late-season heroics while Joe Mixon recovered from a concu sion. In the 2.5 games in which Perine operated as lead back sans Mixon, he put up 58.9 PPR points. Even when Mixon returned last week against a poor Browns rush defense, Perine scored a TD. However, he out-carried Perine 14-4, and there's no reason to chance it with Perine against a Bucs that's allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to RBs.Antonio Gibson, Commanders vs. Giants (Vinnie Iyer). Its beginning to look a lot like Brian Robinson Jr. taking over the key touches in this backfield, everywhere you go after the bye.DOnta Foreman, Panthers vs. Steelers (Matt Lutovsky). Foreman still led the way in the Panthers backfield last week, but Chuba Hubbard had the same number of yards (74) on seven fewer carries. Hubbard and third-stringer Raheem Blackshear also had TD runs of two yards and eight yards, respectively. Pittsburgh had trouble with JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards last week, but it Ha-Seong Kim Jersey still sports an above-average run defense. When you put it all together, Foreman is a low-ceiling flex in all formats this week.WEEK 15 STANDARD RANKINGS: | | | | | Derek Carr, Raiders vs. Patriots (Piva). Carr has been a rollercoaster QB to own in fantasy this season. He goes on awesome runs, like his five-game streak of 20-plus fantasy points, but then bookends those runs with two-point duds. His 11-completion, 137-yard disaster last week against the down-and-out Rams might have been a new low for the veteran. Things don't get easier with sack-leader Matthew Judon breathing down his neck this week. The Patriots allow the 12th-fewest fantasy points to QBs, making Carr an easier fade than a gas-guzzler during a rece sion.Jared Goff, Lions at Jets (Iyer). Goff tends to jingle all the way in home games at comfortable Ford Field, but hes a lump of coal in the stocking against good defenses on the road.Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars vs. Cowboys (Lutovsky). Lawrence has produced at least three TDs in two of his past three games, but those were against Baltimore and Tenne see. In between, he flopped in a favorable matchup against the Lions, and now he gets a brutal a signment against Dallas second-ranked pa s defense. Lawrence has definitely improved this season, but we wouldnt trust him in a difficult matchup with your season on the line.WEEK 15 PPR RANKINGS: | | | | | Marquise Brown, Cardinals @ Broncos (Piva). What can Brown do for you? Well, apparently, he can drop a ton of pa ses that hit him in the hands, that's what. Hollywood's lights dimmed in prime time last week against the Patriots, and he shouldn't be considered a bounce-back candidate with Colt McCoy throwing to him against a stout Denver secondary this weekend. If you're looking for upside, you're best served to look elsewhere.Amari Cooper, Browns vs. Ravens (Iyer). We wish you Amari Christmas? More like "bah humbug" against the Baltimore secondary.DJ Chark, Lions vs. Jets (Lutovsky). Only two teams give up fewer fantasy points to WRs than the Jets, so even though Chark has been hot over his past three games (13 catches, 208 yards, two TDs), hes a risky option in this matchup.WEEK 15 DFS LINEUPS: | Darren Waller, Raiders vs. Patriots(Piva). We get it, you want to start your studs when they're available. However, Waller e sentially mi sed a whopping nine games with a hamstring injury, and he wasn't even all that great in the four games in which he played. All told, he has16 catches, 175 yards, and one TD on the season that's an average of 3.2 catches, 35 yards, and 0.2 TDs! Now he faces the Patriots, and you want to roll him out without knowing if he'll be on a snap count? No, thanks. The tight end position may be a barren wasteland, but you can't leave your playoff fate to chance like a coin-flip in "No Country for Old Men."Tyler Higbee, Rams at Packers (Iyer). Jingle Bells, Higbee smells, hes about to lay Joe Musgrove Jersey another egg.Evan Engram, Jaguars vs. Cowboys (Lutovsky). Engram almost single-handedly won some matchups in Week 14 when he caught 11-of-15 targets for 162 yards and two TDs, but that was against Tenne sees porous pa s defense. The Cowboys have given up just one TE touchdown all season, and no tight end has had more than 57 yards in a game against them. Remember, in Weeks 9-13, Engram had a combined 10 catches for 56 yards, so hes far from a sure thing.WEEK 15 DFS: | Tenne see Titans @ Chargers(Piva).Justin Herbert looked very good in Week 14 against Miami, fitting pa ses into windows that had Cris Collinsworth oohing and aahing. Now Herbs draws a young Titans secondary that has been one of the most generous all season. This is a perfect storm of nope for Tenne see's D/ST a stud QB who just got all his weapons back and started hitting his stride in time for the playoff hunt vs. a defense that has posted negative fantasy points two weeks in a row.Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buccaneers (Iyer). No Trey Hendrickson (wrist) means the Bengals wont be wrapping up the GOAT and unwrapping some big plays.Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Bengals (Lutovsky). Tampa couldnt contain Brock Purdy last week, so we have zero confidence in its ability to slow down Joe Burrow even with Cincinnatis receiving corps banged up. Dont settle for the Bucs this week.
